Mounting and Finishing Instructions for SGP Rapide Fuselages |
| The rapide fuselage kit is designed to fit the JR Vigor. With minor modifications it can fit many other 60 size helicopters such as the Ergo 60, TSK, XCell, etc. The fuselage kit comes as 2 pieces of molded fibreglass, a front cabin section and a tail boom cover. The polyester fibreglass parts are unfinished and readily accept most primers and paints. At any time, if you need a closer view, simply click on the picture to enlarge it.

Installation:
| 1. Remove original body mounts, tail box, fins and boom supports
| 2. Install the new body and tail boom mounts
| 3. Slide the tail boom cover over the tail boom and determine how long it should be according to the tail box you will use. It must be cut off a bit if you are using the plastic tail box. You will probably have to re-arrange and trim the tail pushrod guides so the boom cover slides over without interference. Remove the cover and install the rear bulkhead into the rear of the boom cover with CA or Epoxy.

| 4. Reinstall the boom cover and mark the locations of the boom cover mounting standoffs. Next mark the desired location of the holes for the horizontal fin wire. Remove the boom cover and drill these holes. Drill the fin wire located just under the tail boom and above the pushrod wire.
| 5. Fit the front cabin over the new body mounts, carefully align it and when you are satisfied, mark the mounting holes.
| 6. Remove the parts and wash, trim and sand them. Prime the parts, fill any pin holes and sand smooth. After sanding off most of the primer, vacuum off all the dust and prime again with a final light coat for even colour and coverage. Paint with your favourite product.

| 7. Make up the tail fins by first gluing the brass tubes into the plywood lamination. Next glue balsa to top and bottom of the plywood. Sand the tail fins to an aerofoil section. Over with your favourite iron on covering or glass and paint. Install the tail fins by first installing the 3mm (1/8") piano wire rod through the tail boom. Apply 1.5mm (1/16") double sided tape to the root face of the tail fins. Slide the fins in place carefully maintaining the desired angle of incidence and allow the tape to contact the boom cover. This will effectively hold the fins in place but still allow removal.
| 8. The rapide fuselage will not add significantly to the weight of the model but will streamline it and allow for greater speed and better visibility. Rebalance your model with the fuselage installed. We suggest you install a carbon boom to help avoid a tail-heavy situation.
